Victoria Day Fireworks Display!

Canada is still a member of the Commonwealth of Nations of which the Queen is head. Thus the celebration of Victoria Day which is Queen Victoria’s birthday (May 24th). The weekend is also called the May 24th weekend, although it does not necessarily fall on May 24th or the May Two-Four. It is the first long weekend of the summer season, the unofficial start of summer brings camping, gardening, fireworks and more.

The City of Toronto will host a sparkling display of Victoria Day fireworks at Ashbridges Bay Park today May 20th starting at 10 p.m. This year the City will be featuring a combination of over 2,000 fireworks complete with a spectacular finale!

Ashbridges Bay Park is located on Lake Shore Boulevard East at the foot of Coxwell Avenue and is easily accessible by public transit. It is strongly advised to use public transit and leave personal vehicles at home.

Banks, schools, many stores and restaurants are closed on the Monday. Call ahead to find out about other attractions and tourist spots. Public transportation will run on a holiday schedule. Please note that all City of Toronto recreation centres will be closed on Monday May 20 and there will be no City recreation programs operating on that day.
